“The greenest building is one that is already built” – US Green Building Council
“These are not units, these are people’s homes” – Bill Cuddy, former owner of Portland Builders
Rehabilitation of occupied housing is not for every contractor or construction manager. Keeping residents in place during construction requires experience and a total commitment to minimizing resident disruption while adhering to the project schedule.
We have developed a comprehensive set of site protocols that are implemented on all of our occupied projects. Key among them are: all on site personnel wear photo ID badges, an updated by-unit construction schedule is posted in the community area, full time Portland Builders supervision is on site, and our subcontractors unit location are tracked on a daily basis. We work with property managers to further develop and enforce these protocols.
